Goal Setting Assessment

What are client centered theraphy’s perspectives?
From what I understand.
Intervention: Simply giving the person a “safe haven” to discover themselves.
Assessment: Person set goals and assesses therapy to see if it is working.
Am I close?
Yes, that’s pretty much it. Carl Rogers is the main person associated with this form of therapy so doing a search on him will give you some good information. Client Centered Therapy is a type of therapy that most people consider the least intensive or psychoanalytical. I’ve done a lot of CCT and mostly I let the client direct the conversation while encouraging them to explore certain topics they bring up. One of the main ideas of the CCT theory is that all people really need to heal is unconditional love…which means the therapist needs to remain non-judging and totally encouraging. Not everyone thinks that CCT works (at least not any better than a chat with a friend), but I’ve seen it work and consider it a healthy approach to counseling.
